We like to eat ajvar in all forms, so we know it as a dish, side dish, sauce, spread, but also as an ingredient for stews, beans or sauces. It combines particularly well with various steaks and grilled meat, but is also a worthy companion to various vegetarian specialties. The basic ingredients of ajvar are peppers, eggplants, garlic, oil and vinegar. The ingredients are baked, ground and boiled, and the result is a tasty and aromatic vegetable side dish, deeply rooted in our food culture. The characteristic of a good ajvar is its creaminess, which is achieved by carefully roasting peppers and eggplants with the addition of selected spices. Zvijezta ajvar has a mild taste and a uniform creamy texture.
